In Sierra Leone, millions of people especially in rural and under-served communities still live without access to reliable and affordable electricity. Power outages are frequent even in urban centers, and many villages remain completely off-grid. This lack of electricity affects basic needs such as lighting, communication, education, healthcare, and productivity. Families rely on dangerous and polluting alternatives like kerosene lamps, candles, or expensive generators, which pose health risks and financial burdens. The problem we are solving is energy poverty a situation where people are unable to access or afford safe, clean, and consistent electricity for daily life. Water Light Technology directly addresses this challenge by providing a safe, eco-friendly, and low-cost power solution that uses saltwater and magnesium to generate electricity. It is simple, sustainable, and designed specifically for communities that are often left behind by traditional energy systems.
